Indy’s Dual-Branded Property Stays Gameday Ready

At the heart of the dual-branded Hyatt Place-Hyatt House Downtown Indianapolis is a design concept that reflects the energy and pride of the city’s rich sports culture while honoring its historic roots. Drawing inspiration from Indianapolis’s reputation as a sports hub and its vibrant Wholesale District, the hotel merges contemporary design with locally influenced touches, creating a welcoming, dynamic environment for both locals and visitors.

Located in the revitalized Wholesale District—a former hub of railway trade—the hotel offers easy access to pedestrian-friendly paths that connect guests to the city’s dining, shopping, convention center, and cultural attractions. The nearby Bankers Life Fieldhouse, home to two of Indianapolis’s professional sports teams, serves as both a backdrop and creative spark for the hotel’s bold design elements, including dynamic public spaces filled with vibrant artwork.

A Dual-Branded Space, Inspired by Indy’s Iconic Sports Culture

Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a striking art installation crafted from reclaimed gymnasium flooring. This interactive piece is studded with LEDs that change colors to match the hometown team gearing up for the next big game, setting an exuberant tone from the moment they enter. The installation draws the eye upward, leading guests to the hotel’s activated second-floor lobby, bar, and terrace.

A Subtle Play on Sports

In the guest rooms and suites, the sports theme takes on a quieter, more refined form. Custom finishes and artwork evoke sports through abstract, calming imagery—such as stylized basketball court prints and flowing shadows—perfectly suited to the intimate ambiance of these spaces. In the meeting rooms, the design subtly references the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with wall art crafted from rubber and elegant bent pine veneer, bringing Indy’s racing heritage into the business environment with sleek sophistication.

Pivot Bar & Balcony

The centerpiece of the hotel’s Pivot Bar & Balcony is an art wall that uses jersey colors and numbers as coded symbols to honor local sports legends. Hoosiers will instantly recognize the tribute to homegrown heroes like Larry Bird and Don Mattingly, as well as all-star athletes who made their mark in Indianapolis, including Reggie Miller and Peyton Manning. This unique feature adds a personal touch for local guests while serving as a conversation starter for visitors curious about the city’s deep sports heritage.
