The Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel, a recent $27 million renovation project for The Gettys Group Companies, has been shortlisted for the 2016 Leading European Architecture Forum (LEAF) Awards, which recognize innovative international architectural design projects and celebrate excellence in building design.

The iconic Chicago hotel was reborn as a vibrant destination for travelers and locals alike with the revamp of the property’s lobby and guestrooms along with the addition of Raised, a stylish rooftop lounge overlooking the Chicago River. Fusing an industrial aesthetic with an eclectic nod to Chicago’s diverse cultural landscape, the design of the Renaissance Chicago evokes a sense of local pride, wonder and connectivity to the city, weaving a design story that originates in the lobby and journeys seamlessly throughout the entirety of the property. The design concept expresses the hotel’s bond with Chicago, integrated with a strong sense of discovery and movement through use of captivating photography, curated spaces and Chicago-symbolic art.

The LEAF Awards will take place in London on Oct. 14, bringing together leading architects, designers, developers and suppliers from around the world.
